About Me

Hi, my name is Paul Tuohy. I am a Master's candidate in the SPS Business Management and Leadership program. This is my third semester.

Professionally, I manage a development team for UNICEF - Department of Communications. My job is to integrate workflow from varying groups in DOC, and the overall organization, into an enterprise-wide business information system. The system is used to meet the department/organization's requirements for knowledge management, decision making, publishing, and operational efficiency.

Privately, I am a father with 3 small children. My oldest is 5. Being a dad is wonderful and has been an astonishing learning experience. Among other things, it has made me aware of the importance of quality, affordable education - and why this should be a priority.  My classes at SPS have been a guide to me in several recent business situations. Furthermore, my classes relate directly both to what I am doing at work now, and to what I wish I could do in the future. The online curriculum, particularly the convenience, has made attending school a possibility.

To the faculty and students at SPS, I wish you all a warm 'hello'. I look forward to meeting each of you in the upcoming months.

-Paul Tuohy

Statement of Interest

As a third semester SPS student and a 'convert' to online education, I see what is happening at CUNY today as a positive direction for the future of education in general. The traditional model of education is changing. It has become increasingly expensive, relative to the income of the average citizen. Nevertheless, better education per citizen is a critical cornerstone for improving economic capacity, and building quality of life. CUNY's commitment to quality, convenient, affordable education is strategically aligned with a bright vision of the future. As a Student Representative to the School of Professional Studies Governing Council I would like to understand the collection of decisions that has brought this into being, and provided significant opportunity for learning. Ultimately, I hope to contribute to this process in an intelligent and effective way.

Please consider my candidacy to serve as a Student Representative to the School of Professional Studies Governing Council.
