A Brief History of Social Media

As long as the Internet has been around humans have been using it to communicate in one form or another.  At first, just computer scientists made use of the Internet to communicate and eventually as computers became more and more popular in homes, schools and the workplace - everyone began depending on the Internet for social interaction. Soon interactive websites began to appear with a purpose of connecting people based on common interests, tasks or connections.  Today, likely thousands of social media sites can be found with users of all ages connecting for just about any reason.
