Once I became invested in facilitating communication  I found my purpose and a passion in working with and serving students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing, which gave me clarity on which path to choose.

Along the way I learned sometimes

the things we can’t change

end up

changing us.

 Welcome

Welcome to my e-portfolio and the journey that has brought me to this point of reflection. It has been a journey of a thousand days, over a thousand miles, across six different states. This journey has broadened my horizons and challenged my beliefs and how I see the world.

“The miracle isn’t that I finished.

The miracle is that I had the courage to start.”

– John Bingham

Along the way, I have been changed.  I have an increased awareness of disability, its past, the present and a vision for the future. I question now and I encourage others to do the same.  I have been inspired by the readings, the lessons, my professors and fellow classmates. Now I am committed to inspiring others.  The increase in my awareness is more akin to an awakening. Like so many who have gone through this program, there is the desire to make a difference and I truly believe it is possible.

This e-Portfolio is a reflection. In it, you will learn more about me, the quest that brought me to CUNY’s Masters in Disability Studies, and my journey through the program, which has not only been an educational journey, but one of introspection and self-discovery.
