Hello Everyone;

Let me tell you a little about myself. I'm a sociology major and look forward to all my courses in this department. Culture and people are two subjects I'm very interested about. My own background is hispanic (I was born in Colombia) and I have also lived in three different states (New York, Connecticut, and Florida). I speak Spanish, and took AP French in high school. Learning and connecting the dots about what makes people unique and what contributes to their sense of community, are things I like to think about.

I highly recommend t.v. shows like 'Globe Trekker', 'Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations', and web-sites like 'linktv.org'; all of which explore fascinating cultural topics. PBS' 'Frontline' is also a great resource. I think documentaries are very effective ways of getting stories and messages across.

My hope for this class is to have the opportunity to be 'creative' with data and surveys and to learn to interpret information in unique ways.
