Dear Students,

Welcome to the Italian Cinema class [FLM 307] for Spring 2012. I hope that you will be eager to explore with me the history of Italian society through Italian cinema. This course will provide you with an overview of the history of Italian cinema from the Second World War to the Present. While actively viewing some of the most important Italian films that redefined the idea of visual representation, you will also be provided with tools on how to read a film. From key terminologies, to a series of parameters applicable to deconstruct each directors’ cinematic language, to the use of light, sound and camera angle.

By clicking on the left links you can receive information about the course. This same information can also be found on course's Blackboard site.

This class will make use of several technological platforms: blackboard, digication (ePortfolio), and podcasting: the true blended experience!

This site's purpose is to provide you with course resources, modeling of assignments, motivation and engagement, and lastly reflection opportunities. Remember that the EP is something that will not go away at the end of the course, you will be able to use it for years to come for professional, personal, and academic purposes. I hope you will take advantage of this medium to all it can offer you from exploration, to learning opportunities, documentation, and reflection.
