How to study for this class

 

This class is not about memorizing dates, definitions, events. There will be no multiple choice/true-false tests but I suggest that you

 

 

1)   Take notes on each readings/film

2)   Write down major concepts and cinematic trends

3)   Spend approximately 3 hours to study for this class each week

4)   Keep up with the personal blog

5)   Prepare for the DB discussion by reading the material before the next scheduled online class.

6)   Research material for papers.

 

 

Students are expected:

 

 

  1. to be prepared for class and to keep up with the readings assigned
  2. to turn in assignments on time following the professor’s guidelines
  3. to regularly communicate with the instructor about challenges and problems one may encouter
  4. to attend regularly the online discussions
  5. to create challenges and be able to critically think about each reading.
  6. to be able to collaborate with other students  on online projects.
  7. to show integrity and cite sources
  8. to be respectful to other students when interacting online. Read the netiquette website which provides guidelines for proper online interaction http://www.albion.com/netiquette/corerules.html
  9. to set asite time at the end of each day to look over the course and complete any assignement which is due.

 

 

The professor is expected

 

  1. to always be prepared for each lesson
  2. to inform students of any emergencies and class cancellations
  3. to help students develop analytical skills
  4. to grade homework within 5 days.
  5. to treat everyone with respect
  6. to be engaged and enthusiastic about the subject matter
  7. to answer emails within 24 hours, in case of more complex questions students can call me during my office hours at my BCC office phone.
